About Me

Hi, my name is Lucy and I'm an Ofsted registered Childminder. I am originally from Kent but in my early 20's I moved to Dorset and got married to my husband Paul and we had our two children there.

It was in Dorset that I first registered as a Childminder in 2012. On my first inspection from Ofsted I received a "Good" grade, a copy of this report is available on request.

It was while I was Childminding that I started my “Academic Journey” into childcare and achieved a CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young Peoples Workforce.  

I resigned from my position as a registered Childminder in 2014 because my family moved back to Kent. Once back in Sittingbourne I began working at a Special Needs Secondary School as a Teaching Assistant. This role involved supporting children with SEN. I was only there for a short time before I was offered a position at a local Pre-School as an assistant. Shortly after this during 2015 I was promoted to Deputy Supervisior and six months later I took on the role of Supervisor. The Pre-School had their regular inspection by Ofsted in 2018 which was my first inspection as Supervisor and we were awarded a “good” grade. 

In 2018 I achieved a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care.  

I have attended many Safeguarding courses over the years and I was Designated Safeguarding Lead at the Pre-School.

I decided to leave the Pre-school in 2021 after it was taken over by the local school. I wanted to start working as a registered Childminder again, doing something that I love and that I find really rewarding.  

I have employed an assistant for 2 days a week, who also used to work at the Preschool. Mel has many years of experience working with young children.
